A Co-Teacher's Advice on How to Learn Korean During Our Grant Year

My class practicing our skit for Graduation Ceremony Day in Seoul
PRACTICING OUR CLASS SKIT FOR THE GRADUATION CEREMONY
In a few days, we will be heading to Seoul for four days - a time to enjoy the city, visit the DMZ, and graduate from Korea University! Part of the graduation ceremony is dedicated to advanced students giving speeches, and beginner and intermediate students giving either a live or video recorded skit. Our class had the unfortunate problem of having really dynamic personalities so the OCs expressly asked us to perform a live skit. We've been practicing our skit day and night.

This is my group in the Fish Bowl recording our "Jungwon Style" song at the end. Apparently we are also over-achievers. Instead of just sticking with doing a skit, we also decided to add a slideshow in the background, this customized song we're going to sing to at the end, and a dance to go with it.

WORKSHOP: ALL ABOUT YOUR FULBRIGHT CO-TEACHER
Later today, we had a workshop on co-teachers given by...dundundun...a real Fulbright co-teacher! We were all so excited. Co-teachers have been discussed at length all throughout orientation, but have remained very mysterious figures since we had none to actually come talk to us.

Thanks to the awesome planning of the OCs, this changed today.
The co-teacher who came in today was Andrew's co-teacher this past year. They were very close, judging from Andrew's story, the co-teacher's story, and the photos they both showed during separate presentations. I don't recall his name, but he was very funny, spoke English very well, and willingly answered all of our curious questions during and at the end of his presentation.

Andrew's previous co-teacher showing all the ETAs a video of Andrew dancing on stage during a school performance. He was so embarrassed, but played it cool. The dancing wasn't bad either...

Q&A: HOW TO BEST LEARN KOREAN DURING OUR GRANT YEAR
ETA: What do you recommend we do to learn Korean as quickly as we can?
Co-Teacher: I highly recommend getting a Korean boyfriend, or Korean girlfriend

He said this in all seriousness and had the entire Fish Bowl erupting in laughter.

Co-Teacher: If' you already have a boyfriend or girlfriend, it's okay. You can have Korean boyfriend or girlfriend here, too.

He also said this in all seriousness. I couldn't breathe from laughing so hard! But seriously though, maybe he has a point...*ahem*

Andrew's dance performance at his school
I wonder if I will be asked to do something like this in the coming year...
